He completed his apprenticeship as a commercial employee in public administration (EFZ) in 2018 and subsequently worked as a tax clerk for a municipality. From 2021 to 2024, he was employed by Pfister Treuhand AG. He then spent around two years working for a medium-sized fiduciary company. In 2025, Jan successfully completed the qualification as a federally certified trustee.

In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with friends and family. He likes travelling and regularly goes to the gym.
